How to play !  Poker Domino -- Magic-7 Rules

D-poker3.gif (8930 bytes)

Poker Domino can be used to play just about all of the card games - Poker, Bridge,
Heart, Spades, etc. Certain games, however, are speciallly exciting played with
Domino Poker. Here is one Such game.

Magic 7! Play Rules
A fantastic Poker Domino Game

Objective

Your goal in this game is get rid of all the files in your hand before other players do. Once a
player finishes, the game ends, and the rest of the players are left with whatever tiles still
on their hands. Sometimes, no one is able to get rid of all their tiles dues to the "killing"
(explained later) of tiles. in this case, the game ends when no one is able to play any more tiles.
These players score penalty points (according to table-1) for they  failed  to get rid of. After a
pre-determined number of games, whatever has the lowest score wins !!

To begin the Game

1)Put all the tiles face down. All the players (we have found 2-6 to be the ideal number
of players) sit around the tiles and join in the shuffing process-- pushing the tiles around
until no one has any idea which tile is wahat from having seen them face up a little earlier.

2)Each player grabs equal number of tiles. The leftover ones still in the center are part
of what is called the
Bone Pile. The following table shows the number of tiles you should
grab with various number of players:

3)Put the Bone Pile aside. Each player can now stand their own domino piccos on the side
that only he/she can see it.

To Play the Game

1) Anyone with the 7-tiles (7 of Club, 7 of Spades, 7 spades, 7 of hearts, and 7 of diamond)
must get rid of them now by putting them out in the center. Arrange them neatly. They are
to be the center of four rows of dominoes we will later play. (See Figure-1.)

2). Starting with the player who won the last game, in counter clockwise order, each player
takes turns trying to get rid of a tile. (For the first game, players can arbittrarily decide who
starts.) You can get rid of a tile if it is the same suit and has
adjaccent number as a tile that
already out.  For the first player, since only the 7-tiles are out, this means he/she can only
play 6's or 8's in the suit that is alreay out out. Let's suppose 7 of Spade was out, and the
first player 6 of Spades.  The next player then has the options of playing 5 of Spades
(if it is in his hand) or other 6's and 8's in the same suit as 7-tile that is alreay out.

(Note:
Ace is considered an adjacent number to 2, but not king. We want to form a linear
line with each suit, not acircle connecting 2 and K by A. See Figure 2.

3) When a player has no tiles that is adjacent and in the same suit as any tiles that are out,
he/she must draw from the Bone Pile. If the tile he/she draw can be played (including 7
of any suites), he/she must play it.  Otherwise, he/she will keep the and pass the turn onto
the next player.

4).Eventually, the Bone pile will be depleted. At this point, a player who has no tiles to play
can and must "kill" one of his/her own tiles at his/her turn by slamming this face down. Once
killed, a tile can no longer be played. If you have killed all your tiles alreay, but other players
still have they can play, you must pass up your turns until ither players are done and games ends.

A strategic note: while killing a tile runins your chance of finishing this with a penalty score of
zero (the tile you kill will for sure remain in your hand), it can be used to "block: other people.
For example, if the lowest Spades played so far is 5, and you you have a 2 of Spades in your
hand, and you have no other tiles to play. you can kill the 2 of Spades in your hand. This means
that even if 3 of 4 of Spades were later played, you still cannot get rid of 2 Spades. However,
taking on the 2 point penalty might be worth it, because be doing so, you are consuring that
someone gets stuck with Ace of Spades (which cannot be played without you playing the 2),
which carries a penaltyof 15 points.

5).Jokers can be used to force out desired tiles. For example, if you are holding a joker and
the Ace of  Spades, and the lowest Spades played is 3. You can put down that joker in the
place of 2 Spades. Once you do so, whoever is holling the 2 of Spades has to put it on top of
your joker(skipping other player's turns). However, if the 2 of Spades is already killed, then
the joker is wasted. If it is still inthe Bone pile, then whoever draws it must put it down
immediately after drawing it.

Strategic note: While joker is useful and one might want to save it for good use, know that
it carries a 20 point peanlty if you do not get rid of it before the game ends. Therefore, if
the game seem like might end in next hand play your Joker! (one smart way to get rid of
Joker and more tile at same time is to "force" a tile in your own hand--first throw out the
Joker, then throw out this other tile.)

Ending the Game
The game can under two conditions. First, when one of the player sucessfully get rid
of all the tiles in his/her hand and wins. In this case, the winning player gets a penalty
score of zero, while the other players gets penalty points for each tile in their hand
based on the Table-1.

Scond, if all the players have "killed" at least one tile, no one can get rid of all teir tiles. in
this case, the game continue until all the players have played all the could and killed all they
couldn't. Each player the gets a score based on table-1 for each tile they have in their hands.

That's all of rules for the Magic-7! Now go and have some fun!
